Answers, before you ring
The questions we are asked most
Written in the same words we use on the phone. If your question is not here, ask us and we will add the answer once we have looked into it properly.
What happens after I call?
We write down what you tell us while you are still on the line, then send you a short summary so you have it in writing. An advisor who already knows your situation calls you back inside the window you chose, so nobody asks you to start over. If the answer needs a second opinion inside the insurance company, we chase that down for you.
Does it cost anything?
No, and there is no catch. You are never charged for talking with us. When a policy is eventually placed, the insurance company may pay us a referral commission, and that payment comes out of their budget rather than adding anything to your premium.
Which kinds of coverage can you help me shop for?
We work on auto, home, renters, landlord and property, business, travel, pet, and umbrella liability. Those are the lines we are set up to compare. If you need something outside that list we will say so plainly and point you to a source that handles it.
How much of my time does this take?
A first call is usually ten to twenty minutes. We ask about the property, the vehicle, or the business, and about what worried you last time. There is no application to finish during the call and nothing to sign, so you are never trapped in a long form.
What do you need from me before you can look?
For a home, the address, the year it was built or renovated, and roughly what it would cost to rebuild. For a vehicle, the year, make and model, who drives it, and about how far you go in a year. For a business, what you do, the premises, and the staff count. We will walk you through the rest.
Will I get the same price if I go straight to the company?
Your price is set by the insurance company that writes the policy, from its own underwriting. Talking to us first does not raise it. What we do is spend more time on the comparison than one phone call allows, which often surfaces a discount or a lower limit that fits you just as well.
How do I know the people I speak with are legitimate?
Ask for the name of the company, the individual license number, and the state that issued it, then check it yourself on that state insurance department website. Any legitimate producer will give you those details without being cross-examined. Our own licensing page explains the search in full.
I already have a policy somewhere else. Is it still worth calling?
Yes, and it is one of the most common reasons people ring us. We can look at what you are paying now, check whether the bundle you already carry is priced fairly, and tell you whether moving would help or would simply cost you time.
Do I have to decide anything on the call?
No. Nobody here will push you toward a decision, and we will not ask for a payment. We send you what we found, you read it at your own pace, and if you want a second conversation a week later to talk it through, we will make the time.
How quickly will someone call me back?
Inside the window you pick, and always during our Eastern Time business hours. If something comes up that means we cannot keep that window, we will tell you before it passes rather than let the day slide quietly past.
What happens if I need to make a claim later?
Claims belong to the company named on your policy, not to us, and that is exactly how it should be. We keep a note of who wrote the policy for you, so if you cannot find the claims number in a drawer of paperwork, one phone call to us gets you the right one.
What do you do with the details I give you?
We keep them so an advisor can pick up the conversation, and we pass them to the companies you ask us to compare. We do not sell your details to advertisers. The privacy policy sets out every use, how long we hold the information, and how to ask us to delete it.
Answers on this page are general guidance, not advice about your own situation. A licensed advisor who can see your details is the right person for that, and the first conversation is free.
